Empower Technologies™ Announces Signing an Exclusive Worldwide License Agreement with Mobile Dynamics for Audio Technology

Richmond, British Columbia – April 11th, 2005 - Empower Technologies Corporation (“Empower”) is pleased to announce the signing of an exclusive worldwide license agreement for sales, marketing and licensing of audio technology by its wholly-owned subsidiary, Empower Technologies, Inc. of Redmond, Washington.

The agreement with Mobile Dynamics Corporation is for exclusive worldwide licensing rights to convert an existing active noise cancellation, acoustic reconciliation and modeling, equalization (EQ) and auto-gain control software audio codec to a TI DSP compatible audio codec or to any other IC (Integrated Circuit) platform. The resulting software audio codec can then be licensed by Empower for royalty fees on a per unit basis, to consumer electronics manufacturers for use in their audio product applications such as cellular phones, automotive sound systems, home theatres or commercial audio products.

The result is an important feature for today’s mobile multimedia consumer electronics user. High quality sound from mobile multimedia devices is becoming more challenging as the user could be constantly moving into different noise environments. For example, a consumer could be listening to music from an MP3 smart phone player via an earpiece. If the listener is moving from a subway car to the street level, changes in background noises will affect their ability to hear the music as they move from point to point.

With this active noise cancellation, EQ and auto-gain control software audio codec, the unit containing the software will monitor the noise level changes by sampling the noise either in real time or in regular measured intervals, discern the difference between noise versus music or speech and then will model an appropriate outcome according to a user’s preference in real time. This results in the playback of the sound always being loud, clear and tonally accurate to the user’s ears.
