Empower Technologies™ Introduces New Operating Divisions - Empower Imaging Labs and Empower Embedded Engineering
November 28, 2011 – Richmond, British Columbia, Canada – Empower Technologies Corporation (TSX.V: EPT) (the "Company") introduces new operating divisions in its wholly owned subsidiary Empower Technologies (Canada) Inc. (“Empower”). Both operating divisions' are set up as the profit centre for the Company and described as the following:
A. The first profit centre or division is called “Empower Embedded Engineering”. It is taking the core business and core competence of Empower Technologies founding foundation into a standalone for profit operating division. The Empower Embedded Engineering division is to perform R&D and engineering, consultancy (Engineering As a Service - EAS), the licensing and the sales and marketing of Empower’s embedded technologies. They are LEOs (Linux Embedded Operating System), high performance Single Board Computer and embedded development tools and platforms.
B. The second new profit centre or division is named “Empower Imaging Laboratories” or “Empower Imaging Labs”. It is created to unlock the potential of Empower’s real time imaging technologies which utilize Empower’s embedded technologies including Empower’s proprietary LEOs (Linux Embedded Operating System) and high performance single board computer created by Empower Embedded Engineering division. The Empower Imaging Labs’ main focus is on the R&D and engineering, the licensing and the sales and marketing of Empower’s proprietary real time imaging technologies and the resulting applied products such as surveillance camera and video stabilizer. The market for Empower’s imaging technologies and applied products include military, first responders (i.e. police, fire fighter, and search and rescue), security and surveillance (i.e. cameras), automotive and medical (i.e. microscopy).
Currently Empower Imaging Labs have two proprietary leading edge real time imaging technologies. They are Image Signal Correction (ISC) Technology and Image Motion Stabilizer (IMS) Technology:
1) Empower’s proprietary real time Image Signal Correction (ISC) Technology is comprised of a fine-tuned high powered single board computer, Empower’s proprietary LEOs (Linux Embedded Operating System) and a high performance image processing software suite. Empower’s proprietary high performance image processing software provides real-time de-hazing, de-blurring, de-warping, de-noising, color and contrast enhancement functions utilizing the powerful Empower embedded computing hardware. The technology is suitable for cameras deployed indoors or outdoors in harsh environments under any lighting condition. Empower’s proprietary real time Image Signal Correction Technology reduces any unclear images due to fog, smog, smoke, dust, rain, snow or heat waves to helping clarify any image This greatly enables the monitor of the live situation to see clearly and thus make a better decision in countless situations.
2) Empower’s proprietary real time Image Motion Stabilization (IMS) Technology uses the latest embedded processing technology and video stabilization algorithm to create a state of the art real time video motion stabilizer. There are many stabilizers in the market that can remove shaky or translational movement. However, the image is still blurry due to uncontrolled camera motions such as shaking and rolling (rotational) movements resulting from strong winds and vibration. These motions are the most common problem for cameras mounted in manned/unmanned military, security, and civilian aerial, ground, or marine vehicles. Also affected are outdoor security/surveillance cameras mounted on poles or fixtures attached to a structure to monitor roads, bridges, rail tracks, building/site perimeter (e.g. hospital, reservoir, chemical plant, power station, or nuclear plant). The IMS Technology is one of the few real time video motion stabilizers in the market that has the latest in embedded computing technology and video motion stabilization software. The need for a video motion stabilizer is essential to eliminate the effects of undesired camera motions so operators or analytic software can see a stable image of the live or captured video and take appropriate action.
The first applied product from Empower Imaging Labs division will be surveillance cameras. The Empower surveillance cameras will embed Empower’s imaging technologies inside. Please watch for the official product launch announcement.
The Company is very excited with the creation of these two new profit centres albeit operating divisions. A renewed Empower website www.empowertechnologies.com is also launched to celebrate this exciting change. The Company believes this change will help the public to appreciate the value Empower is delivering. For customers and the markets, this will help them to value and to focus on the technologies, products and services they need and thus expedite the sales cycle.
